Aim of the subject:
We live in the age of social media, and we need to process a flood of imagery, visual stimulations and media messages every day. The course aims to provide adequate navigational tools for students, by improving their visual, media and online literacy. By using various educational methods, the course aims to improve creative, critical and independent thinking. We discuss and analyse social phenomena by means of exploring their manifestations in the visual sphere. With the help of the methods covered in the course students learn to understand communicative processes in the arts, social campaigns, product design, advertisement, and other social phenomena. The course has two main goals; first, to show how a number of social issues are presented in the public visual sphere. The second goal is to deepen the theoretical – sociological, philosophical, etc. – knowledge of the students on the topics and issued covered during the semester.
