Aim of the subject:
During the course students get acquainted with the combination of inorganic chemistry and biochemistry, the so-called bioinorganic chemistry, which draws great attention as a completely new scientific field. Topics to be discussed: the role of the elements and inorganic compounds in biological processes, the formation of metal containing biocomplexes, the toxicity of some inorganic compounds, bioactive compounds with inorganic ions used in pharmaceutical chemistry.
