Aim of the subject:
1. Basic arithmetic on complex numbers, finding all complex nth roots of a number,
geometric representation of complex numbers on the complex plane.
2. Limit points of sequences, Cauchy’s convergence test.
3. Different methods for calculating limits of sequences.
4. Analysis and plotting of mathematical functions. Limits of functions. One-sided
limits.
5. Differentiality and continuity of mathematical functions.
6. Differential calculus, application of derivatives in optimizations, first and second
derivative test. Finding local extrema, maxima and minima of a function.
7. Application of L’Hospital’s rule.
8. Approximation of a k-times differentiable function around a given point by a kth order
Taylor polynomial. Taylor and Maclaurin series.
9. Computing indefinite and definite integrals.
