Aim of the subject:
The mechanisms of the interactions between particles (alpha, beta, neutron, ions, etc.) and the various classes of electromagnetic radiations with matter are discussed. The lecture focuses on the relevance of these interactions in materials science, i) as basis of analytical techniques; ii) as means of modification of material properties. The biological effects of these radiations is addressed as well.
