Aim of the subject:
No other class of materials can respond to so many different stimuli as polymer gels. Topics include stimuli-responsive polymer gels, which can provide a pre-determined response to changes in certain environmental stimuli, such as temperature, pH, light, redox potential, or enzymatic conditions, at a desired point and time. Moreover, the topics include macroporous, tough, shape memory, and self-healing polymer gels. The course covers the classification, preparations, structure-property correlations, and the fields of applications (mainly biomedical applications: tissue engineering, drug delivery) of polymer gels. The course is based on individual projects: students hold presentations about the selected topics. Preparation of peer review of a manuscript is also included.
