Aim of the subject:
The course aims to increase the knowledge of the students on raw materials, on their processing and on specific characteristics of polymers, to offer information about the characterization and measurement techniques used in quality control and to present specific examples for the application of these techniques. The application of plastics in various sectors of the industry is discussed in detail. Besides the main areas of application, i.e. packaging, construction, and automotive industry, the course demonstrates the use of plastics in electronics, health care, agriculture and in numerous other industries. The course gives an overview about the economical and technological considerations necessary for the introduction of a new product.
