The Microbiology course starts with the scope and historical roots of the field. A short view is given on all organisms (and their taxonomy), which cannot be seen by naked eye. The main task of this course is to study the cellular functions and metabolism of bacteria. We discuss the general principles of microbial growth, the effects of environment on bacterial proliferation, and also of laboratory techniques used in "positive" microbiology. We also deal with the basis of heredity, mutations and ways of recombination in bacteria.
