The main aim of the microbiological laboratory practices is to help students to get acquainted with the basic and essential methods of microbiological work for maintaining, preparing and using cultures, such as general microscopy, microscopic examination of microorganisms, staining techniques, measurement and counting with a microscope, cultivation, separation, isolation and identification of microorganisms.
In the course of the lab-practices, besides the basic practical microbiological operations, students will also learn about the related theoretical background. The purpose of this lab is to combine the theoretical knowledge acquired under the Microbiology subject (BMEVEMBA214) with practical measurements, to enhance the theory with ‘hands on’ experience in the laboratory.
