Subject is based on:
General chemistry, Organic chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular biology
Requisities:
General chemistry, Organic chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular biology
Aim of the subject:
The aim of the New Methods in Molecular Biology Laboratory is to help students practice and deepen their knowledge in the field of molecular technics. The practical part of the course include basic methods such as transformation of bacteria, investigation of the regulation of different promoters via reporter genes, plasmid isolation and analysis of the plasmid DNA by restriction digestion followed by agarose gel electroforesis. Furthermore students get acquainted with DNA and protein sequence analysing tools through complex exercises. Finally students will learn how to interpret original scientific papers. The aim of this challenge is to see the process of scientific research: defining a problem, designing and conducting experiments, drawing conclusions from own data and proposing future experiments.
Program of the subject has been developed by:
Veronika Deák, PhD.
