Aim of the subject:
To supply basic information about plastics for bioengineering students selecting the Healthcare and Food Technology branches. The contact with plastics is unavoidable these days both in everyday life and in engineering practice. The use of plastics is especially critical in the food industry and in healthcare, where the protection of health is a central issue. The course briefly discusses the production, processing, behaviour and properties of plastics with special attention to applications in the food and medical industry. The subject briefly touches on environmental issues related to plastics.
