Aim of the subject:
Besides the two classical ways of doing science (i.e., theory and experiment), along with the rapid spreading of fast computers a third way, namely computer simulations, became gradually as important as the other two in the past decades. Computer simulation methods are nowadays routinely used both in pure and applied science (e.g. drug desidn). Thus, teaching the basics of computer simulation methods has to be part of state-of-art training of chemical engineers. The aim of the course is to learn the most important concepts (modell making, simulation, etc.) of modelling chemical systems, and learning the knowledge concerning the use of such model systems in chemical research and investigations.
